Unraveling Steve Dalkowski’s 110 MPH Fastball: The Making of the Fastest Baseball Pitcher Ever

In October 2020, Influence Publishers released my biography, coauthored with Alex Thomas and Brian Vikander, of baseball pitcher Steve Dalkowski. Titled Dalko: The Untold Story of Baseball's Fastest Pitcher, the book is available through Amazon in hardcopy, ebook, and audio. There used to be a book website, DalkoBook.com, but that has now been redirected to this page. Of all the items available on the book website, the article below by my coauthors and me is perhaps the most important, trying to come to terms realistically with how Dalkowski could have reached the phenomenal pitching velocities widely ascribed to him. The rest of the items from DalkoBook.com have been moved over to BillDembski.com and are linked to below. All this material valuably supplements the book.

The Gods of Mount Olympus Build the Perfect Pitcher

In writing this article, we benefited from the insights and feedback of Dr. Glenn Fleisig, research director of ASMI (the American Sports Medicine Institute). With its mission “to improve the understanding, prevention, and treatment of sports-related injuries through research and education,” ASMI finds more than a little of its attention devoted to pitching, where injuries requiring elbow and shoulder surgeries show no sign of abating. We are grateful for Dr. Fleisig’s help with and interest in our project.
